You planned this trip for months. The beach session is how you take it home.
I'm Hunter, and I photograph beach sessions across Hilton Head Island for vacationing families, couples, and reunions — in the golden light just after sunrise or just before sunset, when the beach is at its best. Plenty of beach photographers here will run your family through a quick posed lineup and be gone in fifteen minutes. My sessions don't work that way. We take our time, we let the beach do what the beach does, and you'll know exactly who's meeting you on the sand — me.
the EXPERIENCE
A Beach Session That Feels Like Your Vacation
We'll meet on the beach as the light starts turning gold. First, a few gently guided photos — everyone together, the combinations you came for — so the "we need one for the mantel" shots are in the bag early and everyone can exhale.
Then the session becomes your vacation. The kids splash, dig, chase birds. Grandpa rolls up his pants and wades in. Somebody's hair does what beach hair does. I'm moving around all of it, catching the moments you'd otherwise only half-remember — because those are the photos you'll still be pulling up ten years from now.
And we're not racing a timer. Sandy feet are encouraged, wiggles are expected, and the session ends when we've got your story — not when a clock runs out.

Sunrise Sessions
The beach is nearly empty, the light is soft and pastel, and in the summer months it's the coolest part of the day. Sunrise is my go-to recommendation for July and August sessions, and for families with early risers — we're done before breakfast, and you've got the whole vacation day ahead of you.
Sunset Sessions
Warm, honey-colored light and no alarm clocks. Sunset is easier on groups with teenagers and anyone who'd rather not do 6 AM on vacation. The beaches see more foot traffic in the evening, but I know the quieter stretches — part of my job is putting you where the crowd isn't.

Where We Shoot on Hilton Head Island
Coligny Beach
The island's classic. Wide sand, easy access, and beautiful light in every direction. Busiest of the bunch, which is why I'll steer you toward sunrise here.
Folly Field Beach
A quieter stretch with soft dunes and sea oats. Great parking, gentle surf, and one of my favorite spots for families with little ones.
Islanders Beach Park
Local's favorite with a relaxed feel. Note: parking is permit-based, so this one works best when we plan ahead or meet nearby.
Sea Pines / South Beach
Iconic Lowcountry scenery inside Sea Pines. If you're staying in the plantation, this is the natural choice.
Fish Haul Beach
The one with the driftwood. Weathered trees and wide tidal flats make this the most distinctive backdrop on the island — sessions here don't look like anyone else's beach photos.
Burkes Beach
Tucked between busier stretches, with marsh views at the access path and fewer people on the sand. A sunset sleeper pick.
Staying somewhere specific? Tell me your resort or neighborhood and I'll recommend the closest beach with the best light — often it's a five-minute walk from where you're already sleeping.

Planning Your Beach Photos Around Your Trip
A little planning goes a long way here:

Book when you book the trip
Sunrise and sunset slots are limited — one session gets the best light each morning and evening — and summer weeks fill up first.

Aim early in your week
If your trip runs Saturday to Saturday, let's shoot Sunday or Monday. That way, if the weather turns, we have backup days before you fly home.

If it rains, we flex
Coastal weather moves fast, and I watch it closely. If your session gets rained out, we reschedule within your stay whenever possible — that's the advantage of booking with one photographer instead of a booking system.

Dress for a breeze
Soft, flowy fabrics photograph beautifully in beach wind; stiff and fussy doesn't. Barefoot is standard issue. I'll send a short styling guide when you book.

Beach Session FAQs
When should I book for a summer vacation?
As soon as your travel dates are locked. For June through August, the best sunrise and sunset slots are often gone a month or more out. Spring and fall have more breathing room, but holiday weeks fill fast year-round.
What happens if the weather turns?
We watch the forecast together and make the call. Light rain at the coast often clears fast — some of the best skies happen right after a storm — but if the session can't happen, we reschedule within your stay whenever your dates allow.
What time do sessions actually start?
It moves with the sun. Sunrise sessions typically start 15–20 minutes after first light, and sunset sessions about an hour before the sun goes down. Once you book, I'll give you the exact meeting time for your date.
What should we wear for beach photos?
Soft colors, light fabrics, bare feet. Think coordinated, not matching — a shared palette of creams, blues, and earth tones photographs beautifully against sand and water. You'll get my full styling guide with examples when you book.
Can we include grandparents and big groups?
Please do — reunion sessions are some of my favorites. We'll map out the group combinations before the session so no one stands around waiting, and grandparents get the photos with every grandkid that they actually came for.
Do you shoot at our resort's beach?
Usually, yes. Hilton Head's beaches are public below the high-tide line, and most resort areas — Palmetto Dunes, Sea Pines, Forest Beach, Port Royal — sit close to an access point I know well. Tell me where you're staying and I'll plan the easiest meeting spot for your group.
