Hilton Head Newborn Photographer

Your first days as a family — photographed gently, at home, at the baby's pace.

The first weeks with a newborn pass in a blur of two-hour sleep stretches, tiny socks, and a love bigger than you knew you had room for. You will be too tired to remember most of it. That's exactly why I photograph it.

I'm Hunter, a newborn photographer serving Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, and my sessions happen in your home, in your real life — no buckets, no elaborate props, no rigid posing. Just your family, your baby, and the morning light through your own windows. The person you email is the person who'll be quietly moving around your living room — me.

WHAT A LIFESTYLE SESSION IS

In-Home Newborn Sessions, Not Studio Posing

If you've only ever seen newborn photos of sleeping babies curled in baskets, let me show you the other kind. Lifestyle newborn photography happens at home: the nursery you spent months on, your own bed on a Sunday morning, the rocking chair by the window. The baby leads the session — we photograph around feedings, naps, and diaper changes, not on a schedule. There's no timer running.

And the photos aren't just of the baby. They're of your family with the baby — your hands around those impossibly small feet, a big sibling peering into the bassinet, the dog on guard duty by the crib. Twenty years from now, those are the photos that will undo you, in the best way.

WHEN TO SCHEDULE

When to Book Your Newborn Session

Reach out during your second or third trimester and I'll hold a flexible window around your due date — babies don't read calendars, so we don't book a fixed date until yours arrives. The classic newborn window is the first two weeks, when babies are at their sleepiest and curliest, and it's a beautiful time to shoot.

But here's the pressure-relief valve: lifestyle sessions are forgiving. Because we're photographing your family and not forcing poses, a session at four weeks — or eight — is every bit as beautiful. More eye contact, more expressions, same tiny everything. If your baby is already here and you're worried you missed the window: you didn't. Reach out.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT HOME

What to Expect (In Your Own Living Room)

Sessions run one to two hours, with as many breaks as the baby needs — feeding, soothing, and outfit changes are all part of the plan, not interruptions to it. I work with the natural window light you already have; no lighting rigs taking over your house. Before the session, I'll ask a few questions about your rooms and light so we know where the best spots are.

And please hear this: do not deep-clean your house for me. I need one tidy corner and a window. Nobody is photographing the laundry pile, the bottle situation on the counter, or the state of the nursery closet. You just had a baby. Your only jobs are to feed the little one and be yourselves.

WHO'S IN THE PHOTOS

The Whole Family Belongs in These

Parents: you're in these photos. I know — no sleep, haven't showered, don't feel like yourself. Get in the photos anyway. You will never once regret existing in pictures with your days-old baby, and your kids will treasure them someday more than you can imagine.

Big siblings are welcome and expected — I work at toddler speed, and a two-year-old's version of "gentle" is its own genre of wonderful. Pets too; the dog meeting the baby is a classic for a reason. And if the whole crew wants a fuller session down the road, that's what my family photography sessions are for.
